Rules of the Green.
The market’s vendor rules and code of conduct, summarized. Every vendor agrees to these as part of the application.
Market day timing
- Outdoor set up can begin at 8:00am.
- If a vendor hasn’t arrived by 9:15am (no exceptions), the space can be given to a waiting drop-in for the day. Indoors, vendors not arrived by 9:30am may not participate that day.
- Unload quickly and remove your vehicle. No vehicle traffic on site from 9:45am until closing at 2:00pm.
- The market opens at 10:00am — please don’t serve customers before then.
Cancelling a Saturday
- Full and partial season vendors must tell the Market Manager by 8:00pm Friday if they won’t attend.
- Day-of cancellations: contact the Market Manager directly.
- Missing three weeks without notice may mean losing your space.
Spaces & parking
- Each booth space is 10′×10′. Multiple spaces must be contiguous and used only for your own activities.
- No piggybacking, substitution, sharing or subletting of booth space.
- No vendor parking along North Beach Road in front of the market or in front of any businesses. Ask the Market Manager for the parking map.
Safety & nuisance
- Umbrellas, tents and canopies must be secured or taken down on windy days.
- Keep your space clear of garbage and hazards.
- Smoke, noise and trash must not disturb other vendors or visitors.
- Do not bring dogs or other animals to the market.
Licenses & permits
- A valid, current Washington State business license is required.
- Processed food requires a food handler’s permit and a food vendor permit, prepared in a certified commercial kitchen.
- Services licensed by any government unit (e.g. massage therapy) require a copy of that license.
Code of conduct
- Practice patience and understanding.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to people of all ages, ethnicities and diversities.
- Treat customers with courtesy, respect and honesty, and staff, volunteers and other vendors with respect.
- Assist other vendors whenever possible, and resolve conflicts unobtrusively.
- Notify the Market Manager immediately of unsafe conditions.
- No vendor may be under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol at the market.
- Products must be safe, have a decent life expectancy and show quality construction.
Product challenges
- Any vendor, the Market Manager or a Board member may challenge a product in writing to the Market Manager.
- The vendor receives written notice and responds in writing before the next market day.
- The challenge is resolved within one week to the satisfaction of the Market Manager and two Board members.
Discipline & appeals
- 1st offense: written warning.
- 2nd offense: one week suspension.
- 3rd offense: forfeiture of space(s) and fees for the rest of the season; reapplication to the Board is required for the following year.
- Vendor fees are not refunded for contract cancellation or other circumstances.
This is a summary. The full rules are provided with the vendor application; the Market Manager may create policies as needed for situations not covered here.
