How the program started
Our islands are teeming with talent. In 2022 the market was awarded a small grant from the San Juan County LTAC Fund to hire local musicians to perform midday at the summer markets — and the response from the community has been overwhelming.
In fall 2024 the association used its own funds to bring musicians into the fall markets in the school cafeteria. In 2025 a grant request was approved that funded both the summer and fall music programs, and Music in the Market continues in 2026.
We’re grateful to the LTAC Committee for granting the request each year, and to the musicians who have graced the Village Green stage and music tent every summer since.

Closing out summer in style.
The last outdoor market of the season celebrated the harvest on the Village Green.

Their booth, their business.
In 2021 we tried an idea: give island kids a space to run a business without the financial burden of their own booth and all the legal processes. It was a wild success.
